A small business is a venture that does not have much of employees and is operated independently with relatively low volume of sales.
There is no apt definition as far as the word "small" is concerned as it naturally varies with size of a particular country and industry, but is generally under 100 employees in the United States and under 50 employees in the European Union.
If a wide comparison is done, we will notice that the definition of mid-sized business as far as the quantity of workers is concerned, it is generally under 500 in the United States and 250 for the European Union.
